Singular Goods

Singular Goods specializes in offering vintage, out of production, hard to find model railroad trains, vintage toys, and other collectibles of a singular nature.

Out of production model railroad train equipment are models that are no longer
made. All such models that ever will be made, have been made No replacements are contemplated (sometimes, not often, a vintage model will make a brief comeback).

There is no ready and reliable source for these railroad train models; they come onto the market sporadically from collectors,
modelers, and from old dealer stock. These models are hard to find, some are rarely seen, and even the more commonly seen ones are found sporadically. When such an item is sold, it is gone, and getting another is catch as catch can.

We offer these singular goods at our eBay store.

Why purchase vintage models?

Unique, Past Models: In the case of model railroad passenger train equipment, there may be models from the past that are unique; perhaps no one makes such a model today. For a collector or a model railroader, adding such a passenger car or locomotive may add to the modeler’s collection or make the model railroad layout different from all the rest.

Quality of Model: In addition, collectors tend to store there possessions, either on a display shelf, or in a box; consequently, they may be unused and in excellent condition. A model railroader who has an operating layout may have run the models and may have modified them (some ways good, some ways not so good). Some model railroaders take very good care of the equipment and some not as much.

Price of Models: In today’s market, new model railroad train equipment is getting more and more expensive. Some railroad train models today may have more detail or offer newer features, but you can now pay up to about $60 to $65 USD for a good HO scale passenger car whereas you may be able to purchase a nice Rivarossi, AHM, or IHC passenger car for $25 USD or less.

It may be true that the modern car might have better wheels and couplers, but at what price? A collector does not care as much about operation and looks and a modeler may start with something and upgrade it later when funds permit.

Whatever the reason, collecting or operating model railroad train equipment is fun and a fascinating hobby.
